Rio Paralympics 2016: Methacton Grad Wins Double Swimming Gold
After a devastating fall from a dorm window her freshman year at Georgetown University, Michelle Konkoly has won two Rio paralympic golds.
Eagleville native and Methacton High School graduate Michelle Konkoly took home two gold medals during the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games this week.
The second gold came in the 50 meter freestyle S9 final, during which she snapped the Paralympic world record with a time of 28.29. She broke her own world record which she had set earlier in the day during the heats.
Konkoly first gold was in the 100 yard freestyle on Monday, which she won with another world record time of 1:00.91.

Konkoly graduated from Methacton in 2010 and Georgetown in 2014. While a freshman at Georgetown, she fell from a window and suffered a severe spinal injury. A lengthy rehabiliation culminated in her victories in Rio.
Konkoly won three silver medals at the 2015 world paralympic championships.
