Scammers Posing At Upper Merion Supervisors Target Residents
The scammers demand that residents call a 1-800 number and divulge sensitive information, police said.
UPPER MERION, PA — The latest pernicious scam to hit Montgomery County has scammers posing as members of the Upper Merion Board of Supervisors in order to gain personal, sensitive information.
Scammers have contacted residents and demanded that they in turn call a 1-800 number.
"Do not respond to these calls or provide any personal information," police said Tuesday. "This is a scam, and the goal is to obtain sensitive information from unsuspecting victims."

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be on the board, hang up immediately and do not engage with them, police advise.
Authorities reminded residents that real government officials will never ask for personal information over the phone.
