Several Hospitalized, Apt. Community Displaced After Bridgeport Fire
A weekend fire left residents of a Bridgeport apartment complex without a home.
BRIDGEPORT, PA — A Bridgeport apartment building caught fire early Saturday morning, injuring several and displacing the entire apartment community, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. at the Bridgeport Suites on 330 W. Third Street.
When crews arrived at the scene they began extinguishing the fire while also using a ground ladder to rescue an individual trapped on a balcony, firefighters said.

Firefighters were able to enter and make several additional rescues inside the home.
Several neighboring companies arrived to assist Bridgeport on the scene and knock down the blaze.

Authorities said multiple people were brought to the hospital in unknown condition, although no fatalities have been reported.
Bridgeport Suites is "temporarily uninhabitable" due to smoke damage, borough officials said. The seven story building has dozens of studios and one bedroom apartments.
Residents should go to borough hall, at 63 W. Fourth Street, for temporary shelter.
County services are working with the Red Cross to transition impacted residents to short term shelters and lodging.
The cause of the blaze is not yet clear and remains under investigation.
