Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued In Montgomery County

Wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour and quarter sized hail is possible. What to know:

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued in Montgomery County and other parts of the region as a major storm front rolls in late Friday morning. Wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour are expected, and large hail could fall.

The watch was upgraded to a warning at 11:20 a.m. It is in effect from until 6 p.m.

Chester, Delaware, and Berks counties, along with parts of southern New Jersey, are also included in the warning.

"Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds," the National Weather Service said. "Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible."

Up to three quarters of an inch of rain could fall and localized flooding is possible.

A thunderstorm watch, meanwhile, is in place in other parts of the region, including Phiadelphia and Bucks County.

A severe thunderstorm warning indicates that the storm is imminent and residents should take action and seek shelter immediately.
