Severe Thunderstorm Watch In 10 PA Counties

SOUTHEASTERN PA — A powerful storm front is moving through the region, leading to a severe thunderstorm watch being issued in 10 eastern Pennsylvania counties.

The watch is in effect from 4:15 p.m. until midnight in Bucks, Berks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, and Philadelphia counties.

Hail and wind gusts up to 70 miles could accompany the thunderstorms, forecasters said, along with torrential rain.

Multiple tornadoes are also possible.

The rain could lead to localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm watch indicates that "severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. Stay informed and be ready to act if a severe thunderstorm warning is issued." A severe thunderstorm warning, alternatively, indicates that residents should take action and seek shelter immediately.
