As Shapiro Steps Down, Montco Seeks New Commissioner Candidates
With Attorney General-elect Josh Shapiro heading to Harrisburg, Montgomery County needs to fill his commissioner seat.
With Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro winning his bid for the Pennsylvania Attorney General, his seat on the board of commissioners will become vacant and needs to be filled.
Shapiro resigned his role on the board effective Jan. 16, according to the county.
Pursuant to the Second Class County Code, “Any vacancy in the office of county commissioner shall be filled for the balance of the unexpired term by the court of common pleas of the county, by the appointment of an elector of the county who voted for the commissioner whose place is to be filled."

The appointed commissioner will serve the remainder of Shapiro's term, which will expire in three years as Shapiro was reelected to the board in 2015.
Interested parties should send a resume and cover letter including contact information to Michael R. Kehs, Esq., Court Administrator, PO Box 311, Courthouse, Norristown PA 19404.

Resumes and cover letters should be delivered on or before Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Candidates will be expected to be available for interviews at a time to be designated by the Court.
