Sinkhole In KOP Shuts Down New Stretch Of Chester Valley Trail
New development, old problems in King of Prussia.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — A sinkhole has opened up on a new stretch of the Chester Valley Trail, near its junction with the Schuylkill River Trail, forcing the closure of the path.
The trail is shut down between DeKalb Pike and Prince Frederick Boulevard until further notice, officials said.
It's the latest sinkhole in an area that has been plagued by them over the past several years, causing dozens of road closures and backing up traffic along the U.S. 202 corridor.

Officials believe there is limestone under the surface in much of the King of Prussia area, which can wear away and destabilize the surface when flooded with water from heavy storms. Recent heavy rainfall on Tuesday may have contributed to this latest incident, but authorities have not provided any information on the cause.
It remains unclear how long the trail closure will be in place.
