A Montgomery County family is mourning the loss of 24-year-old Donny Purnell, who was killed in a hit and run accident on Friday night, March 3.
Purnell, of Pottstown, was heading to work at Wendy's on Route 100 near Shoemaker Road when the incident occurred, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
"A beloved son, father, brother, cousin, nephew, friend was killed," wrote a friend of Purnell's, Elizabeth Ferkins. "So young, full of life, he was taken too soon."

Ferkins has launched a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to help with funeral expenses and to support Purnell's daughter, Graycyn. The funeral will cost $10,085, Ferkins said. Within just a few days, more than $8,000 has been raised.
The incident occurred at about 7:54 p.m., according to authorities.

The first car was traveling at "highway speed" when it hit Purnell and sped away. A second car then hit Purnell, but that driver remained on the scene and was cooperative with police.
"We now have more questions than answers as to why (this happened)," Ferkins said.
Police say that the vehicle they are looking for should have front-end damage from the accident.
Anyone with any information on that vehicle or the driver, should contact Pottstown Police at 610-970-6570.
