Tornado Warning Issued For Montgomery, Chester Counties (EXPIRED)

A tornado warning was issued in Montgomery and Chester counties late Thursday night.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A tornado warning was issued for parts of Montgomery County late Thursday night, the National Weather Service said.

The warning was in effect from 11:32 p.m. until shortly before midnight. Residents in the impacted area were told to immediately seek cover, authorities said.

The warning covers southeastern Montgomery County, east-central Chester County, Philadelphia, and northeastern Delaware County. That includes the I-95 corridor between mile markers 26 and 33.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located about nine miles east of West Chester at 11:32 p.m., moving northeast at 50 miles per hour, the National Weather Service said.

During a tornado, it's important to avoid windows, and move to a basement or an interior room, or the lowest floor of a sturdy building, if possible.

The most severe part of the storm fortunately came through well after trick or treating hours.

This follows a severe thunderstorm warning that was issued for a nearly identical area, set to expire at 12:15 a.m.
