Two Firefighters Injured, Families Displaced In Norristown Fire

Two firefighters were sent to the hospital and four adults and two children were displaced after a dangerous blaze in Norristown.

Two firefighters were injured and two families displaced after a fire at 941 Jackson Street on Friday night in Norristown, Acting Deputy Fire Chief Chris Cossman said.

Fire units were called to the scene at 9:12 p.m. and arrived within four and a half minutes, Cossman said.

The fire was raging on the second floor of the house and firefighters were forced to make “an aggressive interior path” to put out the blaze, according to Cossman.

The fire was extinguished by 9:37 p.m., Cossman said, leaving significant property damage and smoke damage to adjacent dwellings.

Two firefighters were injured on the scene and transported to the hospital, Cossman said, where they were treated and released.

Two adults were displaced from the home at 941 Jackson, and two adults and two children were forced out of their home at 939 Jackson, Cossman said.

The origin of the fire is unknown at this time, although officials say that it was accidental.
