The trio were a part of a gang called "1200," which rivals a different gang called "The Ave," which Boyd was a part of, police said. Two days before the killing, the three posed for a social media photo on Washington's account with Washington holding a gun in the air and the caption reading "MAN (expletive) DA AVE,"authorities said.

On the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 30, the three men were together at an apartment on Johnson Highway. Police said they left and drove in a white Chevrolet Cruze, owned by Washington's girlfriend, to the 1000 block of Powell Street.

That's where they shot Boyd several times as he walked home from the store, and then fled the scene and returned to the Johnson Highway apartment, the DA said.
