UPDATE: 'Heavy Smoke' Met Firefighters At West Norriton Fire

The origin of the blaze has not yet been reported.

“Heavy smoke” met firefighters late Tuesday night as they battled a blaze on the 500 block of Crystal Lane in West Norriton, fire officials said.

The smoke was coming from the first and second floors of a two-story town home when Jeffersonville, West Norriton, Norristown, Lower Providence, and other local responders arrived on scene just after 10 p.m.

Residents throughout the borough reported hearing the sirens as trucks raced down Main Street in Norristown to reach the scene of the blaze.

The fire was located in the basement’s storage room.

It’s unknown what caused the fire, but it was quickly contained.

Crews remained on scene until about 1:30 a.m.

Residents on the block were evacuated for a short time due to the smoke.

No injuries were reported.
