NORRISTOWN, PA — Primary Election Day is here in Pennsylvania, and voters hitting the polls around Montgomery County should be aware that their polling place may have changed.

Several changes have been made to polling precincts in the region. Before heading out, you should double check your local precinct remains unchanged via the Pennsylvania Department of State website here.

Construction, inadequate size, and other unforeseen circumstances can all lead to a change in polling locations, Montgomery County officials said.

County leaders urged residents to exercise their right to vote, even in an “odd year” in which most races are at the local level.

“These elections may not make headlines, but they shape our everyday lives,” Commissioner Nail Makhija said. “Democracy depends on us - let’s show up.”

Voters at some polling places received special stickers from the group Fresh Artists, commemorating their participation.

Primary Election Day also showcases another kind of active engaged citizenry: volunteerism. Some 2,800 poll workers are volunteering to work the polls across Montgomery County Tuesday, officials said.

Check back with Patch later in the evening as polls close at 8 p.m. and results begin to come in.
