Water Main Break's Impacts Felt Across Montgomery County

Breaking: Residents were left without water after a main broke in freezing temperatures early Tuesday in Montgomery County.

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — A water main break in West Conshohocken early Tuesday morning impacted several municipalities in Montgomery County, according to Aqua America and local officials. Some local residents remained without water later Tuesday afternoon.

The main break occurred on Balligomingo Road in West Conshohocken, between Route 476 and Front Street, before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the Donna Alston, a spokesperson for Aqua Pennsylvania.

Residents in Tredyffrin, Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Lower Merion, Upper Merion, Cheltenham, Plymouth, Whitemarsh, Springfield, and Radnor all had their water service impacted.

The main was shut down by 11:30 a.m., and crews arrived on the scene to begin repairs.

Most residents experienced only lower water pressure in the morning, which improved throughout the day, Aqua officials said.

However, about 25 customers in Upper Merion have been completely without water, including residents of the following streets: Hillside, Kentucky, and Tennessee avenues and New DeHaven Street.

Aqua has not yet issued a "No Boil" water advisory, but residents should expect brown water or loss of water pressure. Limiting the use of your tap water until repairs are completed is recommended.

Water pressure is expected to improve as the day progresses. Discoloration of water should also be expected.

Authorities are hoping to have the main repaired completely by Tuesday night.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
