Where Coronavirus Has Increased In Montgomery County Since May
Cases have increased in the county over recent weeks. Here's a look at how data has changed since late May.
NORRISTOWN, PA — As Montgomery County and southeastern Pennsylvania moved through the yellow phase and into the green phase in late June, coronavirus cases were steadily decreasing. That trend has gradually reversed in recent weeks, with numbers in the county remaining steady or rising slightly throughout July.
Montgomery County has a total of 9,091 coronavirus cases and 817 deaths, as of Tuesday afternoon. The total number of cases over the past 14 days, 519, is slightly more than the previous 14 days, which stood at 508.
Since late May, the county has seen about 2,500 new cases. While the virus was growing much more rapidly then, it growth remains highest in many of the same zip codes as it did two months ago, particularly in Norristown and Lansdale.

Elsewhere smaller zip codes like Montgomeryville and Gladwyne have seen almost no new cases of the virus at all in weeks.
The news comes as school districts around the county grapple with how best to reopen in the fall, given the continuing course of the virus. In Montgomery County, districts like Norristown and Lansdale are following a popular model in the region: offering families an option of at-home and in-person instruction, or even a mix of the two.

It should be noted, this zip code data is distinct from the numbers released by the county on the municipal level. These numbers show cases by zip codes which, in many cases, cover larger and different geographical regions than the municipality in question's borders, providing another way of looking at how the virus has spread in the local area.
The list also includes some zip codes that are only partially in Montgomery County, and overlap with neighboring counties.
