Consistent winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 50, were predicted through 10 p.m.

Scattered power outages should be expected, caused by downed trees and power lines.

Lightweight outdoor objects like garbage cans and patio furniture should be secured to the ground, the NWS said. And drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should exercise additional caution.

The advisory, which began at noon, comes after a wave of heavy storms hit Sunday night, causing outages to thousands and even sending out a blaring tornado alarm to phones of many residents in the region.

The warning was issued to some residents overnight in Philadelphia, as well as Chester County and Camden County in New Jersey.

Officials remind motorists to always avoid downed utility lines. Phones and other electronic devices should be charged so they will be ready in case of an outage, and flashlights should be checked for batteries.
