Woman Faces Firearms Charges After Montgomery Co. Gun Show: Cops

A woman was arrested on firearms charges after a gun show in Montgomery County, police said.

OAKS, PA — A woman was arrested on firearms charges after the gun show at the Expo Center in Oaks, police said.

Sandra Sanders, 51, of Erie, had an active warrant for her arrest on undisclosed charges when she attended the gun show on May 19, police said.

During the show, she attempted to purchase two weapons, according to authorities.

The seller used the Pennsylvania Instant Check System, a database used by distributors to determine if a person is legally allowed to own a firearm. When the seller found Sanders' record, he did not complete the transaction with her, and notified police.

In addition to her warrant, Sanders had been previously convicted of felonies, another reason she could not legally own a firearm.

The Upper Providence Police Department led the investigation, and secured a warrant for her arrest on Oct. 15.

Police in Erie arrested Sanders on Oct. 28. She was arraigned in Montgomery County on Oct. 31.

A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
