Work Begins On Sterigere Street Pedestrian Bridge In Norristown
One of the area's most popular roadways is getting a makeover. Meanwhile, a new pedestrian bridge will help walkability. The latest:
NORRISTOWN, PA — As the nearby $3.6 million project to rebuild the Sterigere Street bridge continues, work on the nearby pedestrian bridge is taking shape as well.
The smaller bridge is being built to help maintain walkability in the area. The larger road bridge project will not be complete until Jan. 2024, according to project estimates.
Beams were recently laid over Stony Creek for the pedestrian bridge, however, and it's believed construction on that will be complete within weeks.

Work began to replace the larger bridge in early March. The hundred-year-old structure carried an average of about 17,500 vehicles a day.

A detour takes motorists from Stanbridge Street to Marshall Street, Markley Street, and Harding Boulevard.
