Bomb Threat Found in Carson Middle School Bathroom, Latest from Police
School officials discover a detailed bomb threat in a boys' bathroom shortly before noon Thursday.

North Allegheny school officials cancelled an orchestra concert scheduled for Thursday night at Carson Middle School after discovering a detailed bomb threat in a boys' bathroom earlier in the day.
In a letter posted on the district's website, Carson Principal Katherine Jenkins and Brian Miller, assistant superintendent of K-12, said the McCandless police were called, the school was evacuated, and bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to sweep the campus. Security officers were in the school overnight.
A number of security precautions will be taken throughout the day on Friday, Dec. 21, the letter stated.

- All students will pass through a security search area prior to entering school.
- Students may bring books, notebooks, and binders as necessary—but not backpacks or large bags.
- Student movement throughout the building and on campus will be restricted throughout the day.

McCandless Police Chief Gary Anderson said Friday no one has been charged in the incident. He said there would be patrols at the middle school, but declined to go into details.

"I’m not going to discuss any security measures that we have taken," he said.
The district asks anyone with information that may help in the investigation to please speak to any adult at Carson Middle School or call the NA TIPS line at 724-933-TIPS.
