Good Cents Discount Grocery Store to Open This Weekend in Ross Towne Center

The store is located right next to the new Bottom Dollar discount grocery store.

The first battle of the McKnight Road discount grocery store war will be fought Sunday, Nov. 4 starting at 8 a.m.

That's when Giant's Eagle's first-ever Good Cents Grocery store in Ross Towne Center on McKnight Road will open its doors.

"The ribbon cuttting is at 8 a.m. Sunday," said Giant Eagle spokesman Dick Roberts of Roberts Communications. "Normally, the store will be open from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. daily."

Giant Eagle originally planned to use the Valu King name for the store, but switched to Good Cents a few weeks ago.

Giant Eagle operates seven Valu King stores, four in northeast Ohio, two in Erie, and one in Johnstown.

The Valu King stores aim to appeal both to budget-minded shoppers as well as those who like fresh produce and other perishables, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported several months ago.

Good Cents will be located at the former home of Freight Liquidators, which is right next door to a Bottom Dollar Foods store, which opened in August.
