Sunshine: Good or Bad?

Ok, I get it, who doesn't want to be tan?  A tan looks great on everyone!  That golden tone, the warmth of your skin, not to mention the instant loss of 10 pounds!   But tanning is damaging your skin!  It's breaking down the collagen and elastin, it's permanently hyper-pigmenting you, and even more importantly it is a major source of skin cancers, including the deadly melanoma.

Did you know tanning in a tanning bed or booth just 6 times a year can increase your chances of developing skin cancer by 85%!  So what is the safest way to get that sun kissed look We all love?  Professional spray tan is then most effective, even and realistic way to create that golden glow.

Our makeup artist professional Danielle Mock uses Norvell Organic solution to airbrush the entire body, one treatment cost $25-$35 and should last a full week.  She also suggests up keep with L'Oreal Jergens Natural Glow ($6.99 at Target) or  St. Tropez foam for an all over beautiful, even tan.  ($39.99 for the whole kit at sttropeztan.com)

But let's not forget about the key to keeping healthy skin in the summertime, Protection!  Protection!  Protection!  Daily use of an SPF 25 and higher is the only way to prevent and protect your skin against aging, sun damage, and dangers that UV Rays emit.

My top two sun protectors come from two different lines we carry here at Studio Raw.  First is Eminence Bright Skin Moisturizer SPF 30.  ($68.00)The great thing about this product is that it is not only an SPF30 but it is your moisturizer for the day, so no layering required.  It includes a natural hydroquinone so not  only are you protecting and preventing but also repairing with one simple cream.  Another amazing choice is the IsClinical Eclipse SPF 50 broad spectrum cream for the face. ($39.00).  Summer is here people, so let protect our skin and put our best face forward!
