Tai Chi is a centuries-old Chinese practice designed to
exercise the mind and body through a series of gentle, flowing postures that
create an illusion of synchronized dance.
The list of benefits from the regular practice of Tai Chi
is long. It can improve strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. One
of the most significant benefits is the reduction of stress. Some research also
suggests that tai chi may help to improve heart function and decrease blood
pressure.
In order to offer some of its programs in local community
settings, Northland Library will sponsor a four-week Tai Chi series at the
Activities Center of Blueberry Park in Franklin Park Borough, conducted by
Vincenza Furst, certified instructor. Registration is required for this
four-week series that will meet at 10:00am on these Mondays: November 4, 11, 15
and December 2.
