It may be getting colder outside,
but this month we will be visiting “The Warm Heart of Africa.” In July of this year, Northland Library staff
member Karen Nootbaar, traveled to Malawi, Africa, as part of a team sponsored
by the Pittsburgh Presbytery. Sharing photos and stories from her 18-day visit,
she’ll take us to the commercial city Blantyre, also Malawi’s second largest
city. We’ll visit it’s former capital, Zomba, also known as the university city. We’ll “get
down” with the locals and enjoy some breathtaking scenery as we travel to Lake
Malawi, Africa’s third largest and second deepest lake and the ninth largest in the world. At the center of the lake is Bird Island, a
bird sanctuary. We’ll visit Majete Wildlife
Reserve to see Africa’s Big Five -lions, rhinos, leopards, elephants and
leopards. Ever wonder where tea comes
from? Wait no longer as we visit Satemwa
Tea Plantation. Refreshments will be served. No registration required.
