Weather get you down…don’t be a victim of another rainy day….

While we can’t control the weather, we can break through cloudy or dark feelings to be happier and more positive.  Moods are transient… they can change hour-to-hour or even from one minute to the next.   However, most of us have more control over our moods and feelings then we may realize.   Learning how to consciously shift our thoughts and emotions from negative (feeling down) to positive or more upbeat is empowering and can help to build confidence.  It can also help lower our anxiety and minimize worry when we look to the future.

While some people do suffer from clinical depression or disorders such as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and those conditions can require medical or therapeutic attention, the average person can gain more  control over their thoughts, feelings and emotions and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to do it.

Think back to a time when you wept tears of happiness or felt heartbreak while watching a movie because of an inspiring story or tale of loss.     In both examples, your emotions were triggered by something that wasn’t even really happening; yet your emotional response, whether you were moved to happy tears or felt a sense of loss, were real in that moment.
