RICHBORO, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported two DUI arrests, multiple thefts from vehicles in Richboro and a fraud complaint involving a jury-duty scam in its latest incident summary covering Aug. 17 through Aug. 30.
Police responded at about 3:44 a.m. on Aug. 17 to Rocksville Road and Bridgetown Pike for a traffic accident. Officers found one vehicle completely off the roadway and no driver at the scene. According to police, a tow was required, and traffic citations were filed.
On Aug. 19, a resident reported getting a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department. According to police, the caller told the resident that they had missed jury duty and that there was a warrant for their arrest. The caller then provided QR codes to scan and instructions to deposit money. Police gathered information and assigned the case to detectives.
Police also logged a lost dog call on Aug. 20 after a dog broke free from its leash. The dog returned home safely a short time later. That same day, patrol responded to multiple homes in the Richboro section of the township for reports of thefts from vehicles. Information was gathered from each incident.
On Aug. 21, officers attended the football scrimmage at Council Rock South High School. On Aug. 24, patrol responded to a business on Almshouse Road for a found dog report. Police used a chip reader to locate the owner and safely returned the dog to its home.
Two separate traffic stops led to DUI arrests during the two weeks. On Aug. 23, patrol stopped a vehicle near Holland and Buck roads for a traffic violation. Through investigation, a driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. On Aug. 30, another traffic stop near West Bristol Road and Knowles Avenue ended with a driver taken into custody on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Police also responded Aug. 25 to a shopping center business in the 1400 block of Buck Road for a juvenile complaint involving e-bikes. Officers observed several juveniles riding e-bikes throughout the shopping center, stopped them and contacted their parents.
On Aug. 28, patrol responded to Ann Drive for a solicitor complaint. Police spoke with two individuals who did not have the required permits, and they left without further issue.
During the tour, patrols handled 36 alarm calls, 34 abandoned 911 calls, 72 medical emergencies, 17 bookings, 8 domestic disputes, 24 civil disputes, 155 traffic monitoring details, and 30 crime prevention details.
