• Why Lehigh Valley fruit farmers are still reeling from freezing temperatures 5 months ago (lehighvalleylive.com) — Fruit growers in Northampton County and the wider Lehigh Valley are still struggling after April freezes wiped out most apples and all peaches and cherries at some orchards, slashing fall picking options. Local farms like Gulick's Fruit Farm are shortening apple-picking schedules, leaning on baked goods and other produce, and seeking limited state relief to stay afloat.
• Man alleges he accidentally shot, killed his brother in Northampton County (6abc.com) — A man is dead after being shot just after midnight Sunday in Wilson Borough, Northampton County, and police say his brother claims the shooting was accidental. Officers found the 24-year-old victim with a neck wound, and he later died at St. Luke's Anderson campus while investigators continue to question his brother and examine what happened.
