2. Proposed 2027 Northampton Co. budget includes 43% property tax increase (wfmz.com) — Northampton County's proposed 2027 budget would raise property taxes by 43.5%, increasing the millage rate from 10.8 to 15.5 and adding about $470 a year on a $100,000 assessment. County Executive Tara Zrinski says the hike is needed to fund pensions, Gracedale, the jail, and higher employee pay, with County Council still needing to approve the plan.
3. Four accused of breaking into Moore Elementary School (homenewspa.com) — Police say three 18-year-olds and a juvenile twice entered Moore Elementary School in the Northampton Area School District, allegedly damaging a skylight and filming inside for social media. Investigators used surveillance footage and TikTok screenshots to identify the suspects, who now face felony trespass and related charges and are headed toward preliminary hearings in Northampton County Court.
4. HS ROUNDUP: Berwick volleyball remains perfect in WVC (citizensvoice.com) — Northampton field hockey fans saw the Konkrete Kids fall 5–1 at home to Crestwood, despite a late goal from Lopata off a Hamilton assist. The game featured a barrage of Crestwood shots and 19 saves from Northampton goalie Pietryka, offering a clear snapshot of how the local team is stacking up this season.
5. 20-Year-Old Firefighter Killed In 3-Vehicle Motorcycle Crash ID'd: PSP Bethlehem (dailyvoice.com) — A 20-year-old Whitehall Township firefighter was killed Wednesday evening in a three-vehicle crash on Weaversville Road at Atlas Road in Allen Township, Northampton County. State police say his motorcycle collided with two northbound vehicles, and the road was closed for several hours while investigators reconstructed the scene and the coroner prepared to determine his exact cause of death.
