Pennsylvania Man Charged After Accidentally Shooting Infant Son With BB Gun: Report

The accident led to a BB becoming lodged in the child's brain.

A Pennsylvania man is being held on $75,000 bail after allegedly shooting his 3-month old son with a BB gun.

Zachary Black, 20, of Johnston, Cambria County, has been charged with felony aggravated assault with the victim less than 6 years old and the defendant over 18 years old; endangering the welfare of children; and recklessly endangering another person, court records show.

According to NBC 6 WJAC, Black accidentally shot his son in the head with a BB gun Wednesday when he was allegedly was spinning the gun around when it fired a BB.

Police told the outlet the BB is lodged in the infant's brain and Black is reported to have told police the BB ricocheted off a wall then struck the child.

The child has been taken to a hospital for treatment. No condition update is available, the outlet reports.

Black is set to appear before judge on Dec. 29 for his preliminary hearing, court records show.
