Cynthia DeAlmeida
has been Principal Oboe of the Pittsburgh Symphony since 1991. Since
joining the Pittsburgh Symphony, Ms. DeAlmeida has been featured as a
soloist in concertos by Bach, Haydn, Strauss and Mozart and has
premiered and recorded with the symphony two concertos commissioned
especially for her and her instrument. Her artistry is superb and it is
Northland Library’s good fortune to feature her in a program.
Her enthusiasm for music and the oboe, in particular, is unbounded as
well as her pride in the Pittsburgh Symphony. She will share with her
audience the ways in which her instrument fits into and is featured in
symphonic music. And she will play selections that will demonstrate her
unique talent. You can register for this free program online or by
contacting the Adult Services Desk at 412-366-8100x113.
