Area's Largest Used Book Sale

Next week! That’s right! Next week (June 10-14) the doors open to the best and possibly biggest book sale in the area. Over 40,000 books sorted into over 20 categories all for $2.50 or less will be available for your perusal.

This book sale is a charitable fundraiser. Proceeds benefit adults and children who would otherwise not be able to afford desperately needed professional counseling and academically at-risk children in need of tutoring.

“The counseling provided was helpful to me. I was going through a very difficult and confusing time, and would not have been able to afford to go to a counselor for help if it wasn’t for Anchorpoint. There are many people who are in this same position. This service is invaluable.” – Client in Counseling

The need for our counseling and tutoring increases each year.  In order to help as many as possible every book must sell. And, wow, according to our book sorters, Glen and Maybelle, this year’s selection is the best ever.  Book drives were held  all year via schools, churches, and businesses. Additional books came from estate sales, Northland Public Library, and the private libraries of individual donors.  There is something for everyone with new and used books and DVDs covering a variety of topics. Discover a literary treasure. Grab a few great summer reads. Have a hobby or interested in a new one? Pick up a book on it. Experimenting with new recipes? There are always more than a few delicious cook books. History buff? We have you covered.  Enjoy reading with your children? Kids’ books abound.  Teachers, who often stock classroom libraries from their own funds, love our book sale too. Some folks even make multiple trips through out the week.

Lisa Marie Bruno, a repeat visitor to the annual book sale, says "To a bookaholic this is a fabulous event. You know I’ll be going!"

Want to get a first peek at the books? Come help us with set up. Meet us on location Sunday, June 9th at 3:30pm. Many hands make light work as we unpack boxes of books and arrange them on the tables. You must be able to lift to help with set up.

To volunteer for set up night, tear down, or to help us sell books during the week, contact Denise Patsko at 412-366-1300. It takes over 300 volunteers to organize and facilitate this event. North Hills Area churches, corporate retirees, local businesses, and community volunteers will be selling the many thousands of book that have been donated and sorted throughout the year (A big task!). At this point, our greatest need is Sunday night for set up and Friday for tear down.

Please help us get the word out.  Here is a flyer that you can share. Please also forward/share this article via email and your social media to your friends.  We appreciate your help in getting the word out and for your book  purchases.
