BAIERL FAMILY YMCA ACCEPTING NEW PARTICIPANTS IN DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
YMCA accepting new participants in program to prevent diabetes
The Baierl Family YMCA is now accepting new participants into the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, which will begin in October 1.
The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is a lifestyle intervention program that helps people at risk for developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk by adopting healthy habits to increase physical activity and lose a modest amount of weight.
The 12-month program begins with 19 weekly core sessions, followed by 6 monthly maintenance sessions. Based on a study by the National Institutes of Health, the program reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58%.
