Kicking off The View from Holly Hill with HHH!
Introduction to A View from Holly Hill with a little bit about the overall focus of the blog and a mention of the Ross Township Comprehensive Parks, Recreations & Open Space Plan.
The View from Holly Hill…..well today that view is Hazy, Hot, and Humid. It is a view that I was hoping would include a little rain, maybe even some lightning and thunder (I can do without the hail). I was hoping for the storms to bring us some relief from this heat! I know a few weeks ago we were all complaining about the rain and the chilly temperatures. Well, I guess we all prayed a little too hard or the anti-rain dances were too effective…..because now we are all sweltering. Sure it’s great weather if you have a pool, not bad if you have air conditioning, and fantastic weather if you are driving an ice cream truck through the neighborhoods. For those that have outside jobs, like construction or roofing, I feel for you guys. It’s days like today that make me long for my youth and the wonderful summers I spent as a lifeguard!
I didn’t intend to start this blog by talking about the weather, but as I sit here typing, that is the view that I have as I look down on McKnight Rd. This blog is intended to be about Ross Township and it’s happenings from my own personal perspective. It is my view, hence the name The View from Holly Hill, since Holly Hill is the neighborhood that I live in. This blog is not about me or my family, so don’t expect any bragging about momentous milestones reached by a child, although I am sure you will learn more about my family as I share our experiences. What you can expect is information on things in Ross Township and perhaps a personal perspective on places and activities in the area as well as Ross Township happenings. While a majority of things will be in Ross Township, I’ll also share things from the surrounding area because even though Ross Township is a good community, there are several things lacking in our immediate area.
Speaking of things that are missing in our immediate area, the Ross Township Recreation Committee is looking to find out what YOU think may be missing from the parks, recreation, and open spaces in the area. They embraced technology and made it extremely easy for Ross Township residents to share their ideas through a quick survey that can be found on the Ross Township web site (here is a direct link to the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RossRecreation). In addition, you can add your voice to their blog and leave a comment with what you would like to see done with the parks and recreation spaces in Ross Township. It is quite interesting to read through the comments that many have already left at http://www.rossrecreation.blogspot.com/ and it seems that the recent heat wave has many thinking that a community pool or spray park would be nice! Ross Township Recreation Committee is also holding a public meeting on June 15th at 6:30 PM in the Ross Township Community Center. They are hoping that this will give Ross Township Residents the opportunity to share their likes and dislikes of the current parks and recreation activities as well as establish what they would like to see changed, improved, or added to. This is the first of two meetings, with the second meeting to be held sometime in the Fall. The survey, blog, and public meetings are part of the Ross Township Comprehensive Parks, Recreations & Open Space Plan. I won’t bore you with all the details of it….let’s just say that it will hopefully lead to good things for Ross Township, but it can only do so if residents do their part and provide their opinions.
