Hello ... I love the nostalgic feel... as well as the very current vibe of our North Hills Patch- It has become a favorite site of mine to check out each morning, for news and stories about our town and the many insightful comments that follow.
Last night, my daughter and I watched the "dance" show that we like. If you ever feel like you are being too hard on your little girl, because she didn't listen, or because she is listing (again) the reasons why she absolutely must have the new game system that debuts August 19, this show will alleviate those fears.
When I was growing up in Ross, during the 70's, summer days were filled with unforgettable trips to the beach, whiffleball, baseball, "'run-down" and ghost in the graveyard. Goodie Bar truck was music to our ears, swimming, Saturday mornings at the bowling lane, Camp Horne drive-in , packing a lunch and "hiking" to Shaler, laying in the fresh cut grass and talking and laughing with neighborhood kids, leaving the house first thing in the morning... returning for lunch (guzzling lots of Lemon Blend)... and trying not to let the door hit us as we headed back out to play until dinner. But each time I catch a story on the news where a middle aged woman is being interviewed and she seems either to also be growing out her color - or just has not had the $150 needed for a trip to the local salon, because she spends her disposable income on food for her 13 cats (or whatever) , I am reminded that - no - this is definitely a battle that is being fought very publicly - and even more disconcerting to deal with the knowing looks I receive from the very style conscious brown eyed girl, over cereal - wait 'til you're 60, she says...
Have a great Wednesday...
