Carlow Student's Fatal Fall Being Investigated

Dalton Bacco, 19, of West View fell from a fifth-floor balcony.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Police continue to investigate the death Wednesday of a Carlow University student from West View who fell nearly 50 feet from the balcony of a campus building.

Dalton Bacco, 19, a North Hills High School graduate, fell from the fifth-floor balcony of the University Commons building onto the sidewalk at about 4:15 p.m. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian where he was pronounced dead at 7:01 p.m., according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“It is with profound sadness that we report that a student has died on campus,” the university said in a release. “The Carlow community extends our deepest sympathy, as well as our thoughts and prayers, to his family and friends.”

Bacco was a freshman at the university and a member of its golf team, according to the university website.
