The blood donation process:
1. Registration. You need your social security number and a photo ID or two forms of positive ID
2. Health History. To protect you and the patient(s) who may receive your blood, a trained staff member will give you a brief health check; ask some questions about your medical history; check your blood pressure, temperature and pulse; and measure your blood hemoglobin level. Hemoglobin is a protein in your blood that contains iron
3. Donation. While you may expect to be at the bloodmobile for a little more than an hour, your actual blood donation takes less than 15 minutes.
4. Refreshments. Here's your chance to replenish your fluids with drinks and snacks and to chat with fellow donors and volunteers.
It's a worthy cause, takes very little time, and makes a BIG difference!
