First Day of School Goes Well in North Hills School District

The only glitch is the weather.

All was well on the first day of school at the according to Tina Vojtko, communications coordinator for the district.

“Traffic was a little slow moving in front of the schools, but it usually is when it is raining,” said Vojtko.

Vojtko said more parents will drive their children to school in the rain and since it was the first day of school, there was even more traffic than usual in the rain.

“No one wants to stand in the rain in their new dress or new shoes,” she said.

The rain did put a damper on traffic, but not the smiles as students returned to their schools after the long summer. Vojtko visited Highcliff Elementary where she took photos of students.

“They (the students) were happy to be back,” she said, “They usually don’t want to admit it, but you could tell they were happy to see their friends and meet their teachers.”

With major road work on some of the busy streets in the district, Vojtko said administrators were happy there were no issues with late buses or other traffic concerns.

“It was a great first day back,” she said.
