First Wahlburgers in Pittsburgh Area Wins Liquor License: Report

The gourmet burger chain from Mark and Donnie Wahlberg will open a new eatery in The Block Northway.

ROSS TOWNSHIP — Plans for a new Wahlburgers restaurant in Ross took a step forward Monday, as township commissioners approved a request for a liquor license for the new eatery, according to a media report. The restaurant is part of a chain started up by actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and their brother, Paul Wahlberg, who serves as executive chef.

The new Wahlburgers, the first in the Pittsburgh area, is scheduled to open later this year at The Block Northway shopping center, the Tribune-Review reported. A second Wahlburgers is scheduled to open at another site in the Pittsburgh area, but no location has been announced.

The commissioners voted to transfer an existing liquor license from a restaurant that closed in Moon Township to the new restaurant, the Tribune-Review reported.

An attorney who represents Wahlburgers told the Tribune-Review that the casual restaurant and bar in The Block Northway will have indoor seating for around 140 diners and an outdoor patio for 40 to 50.

The Wahlbergs opened their first gourmet burger restaurant in the Boston area. Today, the chain operates restaurants in Philadelphia, eight other states and in Canada.
