Geriatrics Medicine: Health Care For the Older Adults*

Geriatrics
differs from standard adult medicine because it focuses on the unique
needs of the elderly person. Physicians who specialize in geriatrics
distinguish between diseases in older adults and the effects of normal
aging. Those who care for elderly persons in their families and those
who have reached advanced years themselves realize that medication
dosages, symptoms, length of illnesses and recovery periods can differ
widely from these same issues in a younger person.

Dr. Lawrence Notaro of Heritage Valley Medical Group will present a
short overview of geriatric medicine and then open a question and answer
period for all of your concerns and questions about health care for the
ever-growing numbers in our elderly population.

Registration is required for this free program. Please register online
or by contacting the Adult Services Department at 412-366-8100x113.
