Increased Police Presence at North Hills Schools
The district's communications coordinator said police and administrators sought to reassure parents.

In the first day of classes since Friday's shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newton, Conn., Ross Township and West View Police were more visible at all schools in the North Hills School District Monday morning.
"We requested increased police presence near each of our school campuses," said Amanda Hartle, North Hills Communications Coordinator. "This is not meant to alarm, but rather to reassure our parents of our commitment to student and staff safety as well as demonstrate our ongoing partnership with local law enforcement."
Hartle said the district was also preparing letter to parents of elementary school students. North Hills Patch will publish that letter when it's available.
