Indecent Assault Charges Against North Hills Teacher Dropped

The teacher had been accused of inappropriate contact with a student.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office has dropped criminal charges filed against a North Hills School District elementary school teacher after a student reported inappropriate behavior by hum during a gym class activity last year.

Highcliff Elementary School teacher Nathan Buttenfield, of Gibsonia, was charged with indecent assault, institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, endangering the welfare of a child and corrupting the morals of a minor.

The district attorney's office has not disclosed why the charges were withdrawn. It is not clear when Buttenfield will return to teaching in the district.
