Man Killed While Washing Car in Ross Identified
Police are investigating what caused the Hillendale Road accident.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man killed by an SUV on Tuesday while washing his car in front of his home. The victim was William Hollis, 77, of the 200 block of Hillendale Road.
Hollis was struck by the SUV just before 3 p.m. and pinned against his own vehicle. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he died about 45 minutes after the accident.
Ross police are continuing to investigate the accident, but don’t believe drugs, alcohol or speed were contributing factors. The female driver was deeply upset by the crash, according to Sgt. Ben Dripps.

“I think that comes from both being in the accident, as well as having her grandson in the car,” Dripps told KDKA-TV. “I think it was nothing short of a traumatic event for her as well.”
KDKA reported that several serious accidents have occurred on Hillendale Road over the years.
