North Hills High School Hosts First-Ever Wellness And Wellbeing Fair

North Hills High School hosted its first-ever Wellness and Wellbeing Fair on Jan. 26, 2022.

Attendees had the opportunity to visit with local health and wellness groups and organizations before hearing a special presentation about vaping from Pennsylvania Senator Lindsey Williams and Breathe Pennsylvania’s Rebecca Kishlock.
Last year, North Hills student Izaha Lynch wrote a letter to Sen. Williams in health class about the vaping epidemic inflicting today’s youth.

Not only was he excited to receive a response from the senator, he was elated to read that she wanted to come and speak to his class!
“I was very excited to get a response back,” Izaha, now in tenth grade, recalled as he spoke at the Wellness and Wellbeing Fair. “We decided to share the good news with the school and community, and invited her to speak this evening!”
In addition to Breathe Pennsylvania, local health and wellness vendors in attendance included Adagio Health, the American Cancer Society, the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Anchopoint Counseling Ministry, Be SMART, Crisis Center North, Gateway Rehab, Glade Run, Highmark Caring Place, Holy Family Institute, National Kidney Foundation, Outreach Teen and Family, Safe2Say, The Village Center, UPMC SmartChoices and Upstreet.
Judge Opiela and officers from the NHSD, Ross and West View police departments were also present as were representatives from the township of Ross and Phil Little from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.
Several student-led clubs and organizations were also attended including GSA, Hands for Service, Stand Together, SADD and the Diversity Club. Student Council members and some of our Student Ambassadors were also on hand to facilitate the event.
