Here's what happening at North Hills Middle School and Highcliff, McIntyre, Ross and West View elementary schools.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Here’s the latest news from the North Hills School District’s middle and elementary schools:

North Hills Middle School

Students now can access quick Grab n' Go breakfast options to start their school day the healthy way. Thanks to a new breakfast cart in the middle school lobby, student easily can snatch nutritious breakfast foods as they walk to their lockers and homerooms. The cart boasts breakfast sandwiches, cheese sticks, muffins, fresh fruit, breakfast bars, milk, juice and more. It's available from 7:20 to 7:50 a.m. every day.
Breakfast costs $1.50 and 30 cents for those eligible for reduced price meals. The alternative school breakfast model was made possible by funding from the Hillman Foundation administered by Allies for Children in partnership with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Highcliff Elementary

Family-friendly KidStuff Coupon Books filled with hundreds of national, regional and local coupons for all ages will go on sale Nov. 1. The KidStuff Book is conveniently organized, offers incredible savings and is sold exclusively through schools. Highcliff earns 50 percent or more profit for every book sold. Families can save hundreds of dollars while supporting our school. Look for books to come home starting Nov. 1. Use just a few coupons and easily save more than the $25 cost of the book.Most coupons are valid for 16 months.

McIntyre Elementary

Enjoy a night off from cooking and support the McIntyre PTSO by placing an order for dine-in or carry-out from Sir Pizza on Nov. 13 from 2:30 to 10 p.m. Mention this ad and Sir Pizza will donate 15 percent of the total sales that day back to McIntyre.

Ross Elementary

A Scholastic Book Fair will occur during parent-teacher conferences this year. Stop by before or after conferences to stock up on books for the kids and holiday presents. All book proceeds benefit Ross Elementary. The fair will be open Nov. 6 from 12-8 p.m. and Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Everyone who visits will be entered into a raffle to win free books. Every book purchased will give you an additional ticket for the raffle. Volunteers are needed to staff the fair.

West View Elementary

The first book swap of the year will be held Nov. 19. Each student is encouraged to bring up to five books to trade in and swap out for a "new read" from the school collection. Please keep these Brule in mind when choosing what to trade:
Five Book Limit.

  • No board books, workbooks or puzzle books.
  • Grades 4-6 will only be permitted to choose a chapter book if they are swapping a chapter book.
  • Age/Content appropriate - keep in mind the oldest readers are sixth-graders.
  • Gently Used - Avoid books that are torn, falling apart, generally dirty or scribbled in.
  • Children with leftover book bucks from last swap can bring those to this one.
