North Hills Middle School Classroom Catches Fire

The fire happened Monday evening in a family and consumer science classroom.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - A faulty extension cord is believed to have caused a fire that occurred at North Hills Middle School Monday night.

The fire occurred in one of the buildings family and consumer science rooms, principal David Lieberman said Tuesday. Custodians were able to extinguish the fire before emergency services arrived.

The fire affected a countertop and a stove cooktop and there was smoke damage to ceiling tiles and walls. But custodians worked through the night to clean the classroom’s desk and equipment and there has been no disruption to the school’s class schedule.
