North Hills defeats Pine-Richland 18-10, Clinches Playoff Berth

The North Hills Indians pitched a shutout in the second half to defeat the Pine-Richland Rams 18-10 Friday night at Pine-Richland Stadium.

After allowing a 57-yard touchdown to Pine Richland wide receiver Luke Merhaut, the Rams took a 10-0 lead.

North Hills would pick up three points on a Wayne Carney field goal and trailed Pine Richland 10-3 at halftime.

The third quarter belonged strictly to the Indians. After the getting the ball to start the half, the Indians put together a drive that lasted over half of the quarter, and it resulted in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Brian Johnson to Jordan Blackmon.

North Hills would go onto get the two-point conversion after Blackmon punched it in from a yard out, and would lead the game 11-10. 

After a three and out for Pine Richland, North Hills responded with another scoring drive. The drive ended on a Josh Hulbert 22-yard touchdown run which gave the Indians a 18-10 lead, which would stand as the final.

The win clinched a playoff berth for the Indians, 6-2, as they head into their regular season finale against undefeated North Allegheny, which knocked off Shaler 55-7 Friday night.

"NA week" as it's known to by players, coaches, and fans is always one of the more exciting times of the year, and this year should not be any exception. 

Kick-off for the North Hills - North Allegheny showdown at Newman Stadium is 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
