North Hills School District Names New Police Chief
Chuck Bossung brings more than a quarter-century's worth of law enforcement experience to his new role..

ROS S TOWNSHIP, PA - The North Hills School District has appointed district police officer Charles “Chuck” Bossong its new chief of police.
A United States Marine veteran, Bosson joined the district police department at its inception in 2018 after serving 25 years with the Franklin Park Police Department. During his time there, Bossong worked as a K9 officer responsible for training and deploying of the department’s canines. He was also a juvenile officer who assisted school districts with troubled teens, and a community resource officer who worked to develop school safety plans and programs to combat drugs.
Since joining the district police department, Bossong has worked to ensure safety while forming meaningful relationships with students. He started a chess club at West View Elementary School and hopes to one day have a chess tournament between the four elementary schools.

“I see too many children on phones and iPads and not actually engaging with one another,” Bossong said in a district release. "I look at chess as a means for kids to improve their social
skills while learning to think ahead tactically and strategically. After every game, they must look at their opponent and shake hands.”
Bossong added that he looks forward to building the relationships he’s already formed and creating new ones.

“Chuck’s connection to kids is second to none," district superintendent Patrick Mannarino said. "He understands our students and we’re confident he is the perfect fit to lead our police department for years to come."
In addition to serving as chief of police, Bossong is the assistant wrestling coach for the North
Hills Middle School. He has coached various wrestling teams for North Allegheny, Central Catholic and Pine Richland since the mid-1980s.
Bossong lives in Kilbuck Township with his wife of 32 years, Lisa, and their dog, Moe. His son, Charlie, is a junior at Robert Morris University.
In his spare time, Bossong enjoy biking, kayaking and fishing. Last summer, he biked the Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal to Washington, D.C.
Bossong replaces Dean Lawrence who left the district in January. He will oversee the district's five officers: Robert Lagoon, Trina Loesch, Robert “Mutch” Muchenski, Adam Steinheiser and Alexis "Lexi" Vukela.
