Arguably one of the district’s biggest advocates, Kathy served on the school board from 2009 to 2021. Prior to, she worked as activities coordinator at the high school and was actively involved as a sponsor for the district’s cheerleading program. She also served as a school trip chaperone every chance she could.
Her three children, Melissa, Aimee and Robert, graduated from North Hills High School, a stone’s throw from the Laurel Gardens home she and husband lived in for more than 50 years.

Kathy served on the school board with passion and honor, something her family said she considered “one of her greatest accomplishments.”
Her unwavering commitment to her community and the students of the North Hills School District was undeniable.
“Everything Kathy did was in the best interest of students, and that’s not a cliche, that’s who she was,” said Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino. “She would make her decisions based on what was best for our students, and she didn’t care about anything else. It was about the kids and the kids only. Her heart was always with the students.”
“She really did bleed red and white,” said School Board Secretary Lori Rieger. “Everything was about North Hills and North Hills was everything to her; North Hills band, North Hills kids, North Hills sports.”
Even as her physical health began to deteriorate in 2021 and she was unable to attend school board meetings in person, Kathy remained sharp as a tack, and committed to the North Hills School District and its students.
“She said, ‘We are North Hills’ with pride,” said Dr. Mannarino.
Kathy passed away on Feb. 20 at the age of 78. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at West View United Methodist Church.
We will miss her wit, tireless dedication and undying support of our district and our students.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy’s family requests donations be made to the North Hills High School Marching Band care of the North Hills Foundation. View her complete obituary.
