ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - Monica Snyder, a North Hills High School senior, is one of just eight students from Allegheny County to be one of the first Allegheny County Human Relations Commission Diversity Award winners.
The awards program was established last year to provide a greater community awareness of the commission, which investigates alleged instances of discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, place of birth, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability; marital status, familial status, age and use of a guide or support animal.
Snyder also is a student of the year finalist with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and a Trib Total Media Outstanding Young Citizen. She is pursuing pursuing a Global Leadership Certificate with the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh and plans to double-major in international studies and policy studies at Chatham University.
