LESSONS FROM THE COUCH: 9 PRINCIPLES FOR TRANSFORMING YOUR MARRIAGE
Using solid research and his years of counseling experience, psychologist Dr. David O. Saenz details the steps for transforming a marriage from the inside out. At 7 pm on Thursday, September 6 and Thursday, September 13, this two-part workshop will explore what successful couples do to make a relationship work and what unsuccessful couples do to damage the relationship.
If you don’t have the marriage or relationship that you wished for, this workshop can help you transform it. If you already have a good relationship, the workshop can help move it from “good to great.”
Please register for this free workshop online through the library website or by calling the adult services department reference desk at 412-366-8100, extension 113.
INVESTMENT BASICS
How should I invest for retirement? How do I find a quality company in which I want to invest? What about mutual funds? Should I speculate on a “hot stock” tip?
Choosing the best way to invest can be a daunting challenge. An experienced investor and volunteer instructor from BetterInvesting’s Pittsburgh chapter will lead a workshop to consider various investment options on Thursday, September 20 at 7 pm.
BetterInvesting is a national, non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide a program of sound investment information to help create successful lifetime investors. The organization does not sell, promote or recommend specific investments, but rather teaches the principles that lead to a secure future. TREASURE HOUSE FASHIONS: WOMEN HELPING WOMEN IN CRISIS
In August of 2000, Sally Power founded Treasure House Fashions, a non-profit organization promoting the dignity and self-esteem of women, particularly women in crisis, by providing gently-worn, quality clothing.
Tucked away on the ground floor of the Andre Building in Ross Township, this little gem of a store, run by volunteers, works with many agencies throughout Pittsburgh to provide shopping vouchers for women in need, joining efforts to better serve women in our wider community. By volunteering, by donating gently-worn clothing to the store, or by shopping there for wonderful bargains, local women are helping women who need assistance.
Join us on Monday, September 17 at 7 pm to hear Sally’s story about Treasure House Fashions – how her interest in helping women in need developed into a dynamic small business that depends on the goodwill and support of the women of the North Hills. Please register for this free program through the library’s website or by calling the adult services department at 412-366-81200, extension 113.
