Parkway North Crash Kills 2-Year Old West View Girl

Three others were injured in accident early Thursday morning on I-279.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA - A two-year old girl was killed and three others injured early Thursday in a car accident on the Parkway North. The crash occurred about 1 a.m in the northbound lanes near the Perrysville Avenue exit.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the vehicle the girl was in was traveling in reverse for an unknown reason when the accident occurred. The girl, who was not in a car seat and was not wearing a seat belt, died at Allegheny General Hospital. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified her as Saryiah Jefferson of West View.

The conditions of the others hurt in the wreck were not immediately available.

The highway’s northbound lanes between the McKnight Road-Evergreen Road and Perrysville Avenue exits for about four hours. State police continue to investigate the crash.
